Nowadays Korean Dramas (or specially known as Kdrama) are gaining popularity throughout the world. It has become an international entertainment field as people are spending their time watching kdramas. Another thing is that the lockdown period influenced the viewers, those who used to watch web series or movies of any language suddenly became obsessed with kdramas. And therefore, Korean actors and actresses are getting offers from Hollywood also.

Specifications

There are a lot of genres in kdrama like anime and web series, mostly popular on the basis of the fantasy genre. But there are also crime, thriller, mystery etc. genres available. Viewers can watch these all kdramas for free or can buy any plans from websites like Netflix, WeTv & Viki etc. Most of the kdramas are of romantic or rom-com genre.

Suggestions

There are a lot of popular kdramas viewers can start with, but first of all to gain the attention of the viewer and to make them realize the reason why most of the people are spending their time on kdrama or why they are watching it, I would like to suggest some Slice of Life genre dramas. In these dramas the story tells a lot about people's lives and the story depicts the struggle and lifestyle of those people. It teaches many things in your life. How one should react or take control of yourself: All these things you can learn from dialogues of the kdramas. And of course you have to depend on the English subtitles (or the language you know).

Because this is my first life

I recently started watching this drama and the story might seem common at first but I would like to request to wait till the end of the first episode. There are few meaningful dialogues and also some information about the human brain that will change your point of view in life. If you are watching kdrama for the first time then I will suggest you to start watching this drama. I bet it’s really a good drama and also with high ratings (already 89% people like this drama). You can check the ratings on google or I prefer My Drama List. I recommend this kdrama to the viewers who just started or are going to start watching kdramas. It will help you understand the reason for the popularity of kdramas. 

Go back Couple

This tells a story of a couple but still I would like to point out a mother- daughter relationship that was shown on this drama. Mainly the story is about how a couple suddenly goes back in time. But the part I want to mention is that the woman lost her mother at her 30s and really misses her and she realizes how tough it is to take care of a child and it’s suffocating for her because her mother isn’t there to help her anymore. When she went back in time she found her mother alive again and started spending most of the time with her mother but her mother soon realized something was wrong with her daughter and she told her a few things that gave her strength in the future. At the end the couple came back to their present and started living differently, started caring for each other again.

The story depicts the lifestyle of 5 friends who live in the same neighborhood. And it shows their friendship/relationship with each other, their ambition and their relationships with their parents and also how they treat each other. There are some ups and downs in life and you can learn it from this drama. Never give up- this phrase is followed in this story. The most important part is that this story is based on a real life incident. That gives this drama the most attention. As the story was taken from real life, nobody can’t blame that this isn’t real life, these things don't happen in real life.  The reality of the story gives perfection to this kdrama.

A piece of your mind

This is one of the best kdrama that I’ve ever watched. Each and every episode of this drama is special and the dialogues are also different life lessons for the viewers. One might change his/her point of view on different situations because it gives you a way to think and take time before deciding or saying or judging something. I think that this drama gives you knowledge and might change one’s personality. I am not saying that it will make you a bad person or something, but it will improve your personality in a different way. One scene from this drama where a person was not able to move on from his first love while she was married. But still he had lingering feelings for her and couldn’t control it. Then another girl was able to see through him that he’s always denying the fact that he can’t move on from his past, but she realized that he needs help and she was the reason he was able to move on after that. It’s not only about these three persons but moreover the story tells a story of a lady who is unemployed and does all the house chores and the only income was her rent house. There are more people in her rented house, this kdrama also tells their story and tells the story of their lives also. This gives this kdrama it’s own specialty. Nothing but some life lessons and a way to keep your life moving forward, move on from the past - these all are a few lessons from this kdrama. 

Also, I would like to include that this kdrama didn’t get high viewer ratings in Korea so the show was brought down. It ended without completing its 16 episodes. The story was shortened and it ended with airing only 12 episodes. It’s really disappointing to some kdrama watchers, as most of the international fans liked the show very much. On the basis of international ratings the drama is really good. I don’t know why the number of viewers of the show was really low in South Korea, maybe the show timing was a busy time for most people. I don’t know for sure but there must be some other reason than the story itself. As far as I know this must be one of the best Kdrama.

Fight for my way

This Kdrama is of revenge type. Like at the beginning of the story a boy from a middle class family had to leave his dream and was living a hard life. While another boy with connection with the higher authority got a chance to live his luxurious and famous/popular life where everyone knows his name. But suddenly things started to change. The boy from the middle class family decided to come back to his field and show the world that he was outcast because of his background and he didn’t even get a chance to prove himself. The place he belonged to was now someone else's. With the help of one of his close friends he again started dreaming to achieve his goal and started his journey. It wasn’t easy to get back on the track but he didn’t give up. That’s the reality of life. You must not give up if you want to continue living. 

Prison Playbook

“Prison Playbook” is a soft-hearted kdrama. As the name depicts the story revolves around the

prisoners and if you are looking for an emotional realistic and heartwarming story then this is perfect for you. This is not a crime or thriller type, the name might seem like it might be violent but it’s not. The story is not so complicated, the first few episodes might seem slow to viewers but still it has a high rating on My Drama List. It has 9.1(out of 10) on MDL and 86% google users liked the show. As far as the ratings are concerned you should give it a try. There aren’t many negative impacts on the viewers. It was successful on its own. If you want to start kdrama by watching this, that might be a good idea for you. You can give it a try. But again I would recommend watching the first kdrama (Because this is my first life)  that I mentioned earlier.
